Convenors: Sue Clark and Pam Malcolm

The group agreed they will walk on Saturday mornings, meeting at 9.30am. The walks are generally flat and easy paced for an hour. Hill walks are on the second Saturday of the month. A leader who knows the walk is nominated for the day. Walks are mostly in the city although occasionally they will go as far as Lyttelton, Governors Bay and Tai Tapu. Walk Information Update The group is up and running and we regularly have 10-12 walkers on our flat walks and a few less on our hill walks. We are now offering an alternative flat walk for those who can't manage the hills.

Recent Walks

On a recent walk up Huntsbury Hill we learnt about the various hospitals (comprising the TB sanitorium) that were on the hill up until 1991. These hospitals had various uses over the years as a children's home and geriatric care. There are a number of well maintained walking tracks and alternative walking available on the pathways along the roadside. We were rewarded with a beautiful sunny day and magnificent views of Christchurch, the Southern Alps and the Pegasus coastline.
