Welcome to 2026. Writing a memoir is very personal and in this group we aim to give our members as much help as possible to write their personal life story. We do this for our families so that they have a written record of earlier days, events, personal experiences and times. Our group meets on the first Thursday of every month at 10am at the Birdwood Cafe, Birdwood Ave, Beckenham. Everyone has a topic to write about which has a connection to their memoir and can be incorporated into any chapter. Members are given advice on how to research, conduct interviews, file their notes and start writing. We discuss work to date and any issues that have arisen during the previous month. In her memoir 'Maybe Esther' Ukrainian author Katja Petrowskaja wrote: 'History begins when there are no more people to ask, only sources.'
