Our May Guest Speaker is Sarah Meikle

Sarah is a Wellingtonian who has made more than 35 visits to India and is well known for her understanding of the country's history and culture.  She has developed a special interest in the slum economy and her talk to us will be on the contribution it makes to the broader Indian economy.  Her 'journey' began in the early 2000s when as a staffer with Tourism New Zealand, she helped establish its representative office in Mumbai.  Since then, she says,  India has captured her heart.  Her many visits have ranged from professional assignments including food tours, to countless personal holidays each one deepening her understanding of this remarkable country.  Sarah studied tourism and management at Massey University and international economics at Lincoln University.  From being the co-founder of the successful annual food festival 'Wellington on a Plate',  Sarah has devoted her time to taking tour groups to India.  We are delighted that she is able to take time out from her busy international schedule to come to Christchurch and talk to us on Tuesday 12 May.
